On the 20th Bert and I went to Gala Nocturna, a Gothic/historic costume/assorted gala event hosted in the beautiful Chapel of Altena by Viona Ilegems of Viona Art.
This is what I wore. I didn't want to go for normal steampunk, and because I ADORE Alice in Wonderland I opted for making a Wonderland's Mad Tea Party inspired outfit ^^ Sadly you can't see my goggles (which were hanging off my belt) at all and the (Cheshire) Cat mask I wore in my hair not very well but hey, can't have everything :)

A big thank you to Viona for the picture of me and Bert (I had nothing to do with Bert's outfit btw, he mostly bought that in Venice, Italy, a couple of years ago).

I made a coinpurse out of some
scarps, this is it. It's far from perfect but that's ok :)
It's just something I quickly whipped up for myself. In the end it'll probably
end up a dicebag for LARP :)

Wednesday, January 20 2010
My friend Saltje is getting married so I made a white skirt with blue details for each of her Blythe dolls :) If you're interested in clothes for Blythe dolls, please check this link.

Tuesday, January 19 2010

This brown doll skirt is perfect for steampunk outfits and costumes, or for daily wear if you just like the colour brown :)
It's cheerfully short, but not too short (it will be longer on a Pullip or Blythe doll I imagine).
The fabric has stitched line details, which makes it extra special :)

This tea party inspired skirt is perfect for well, tea parties or taking your doll along to go see the new Alice in Wonderland movie in the new year. Or if you want something sweet but not pastel coloured for your doll :)
It should fit Blythe and Pullip dolls too although I imagine the lenght will be different on them.
Only 1 in stock! It's for direct sale, so if you want one, make sure to snatch it up whilst stock lasts. The fabric is sold out so if it's gone, it's gone!

Last year in December I got two
mini top hats from a stand at Archeon Midwinter fair (which I sadly didn't
manage to go to this year).
One of the hats is still being all plain and untouched, but I did manage to
decorate the other.
I put it on my BJD's head because I'm not sure whether or now I want to make a
fascinator type thing for myself out of it yet :)
Anyway, I think it looks quite pretty on her :)

I made myself this little holly hairclip to wear during the holiday season. I made my friend Charlotte one too, hers is the one with 3 leaves and 2 buttons.

I've also added this drawstring bag to the direct sales page for accessories.
These faux chainmail drawstring
bags are perfect for people that want a bag that looks just like chainmail, but
doesn't weigh quite as much. Or for people that just don't want to bother with
metal.
It look like it's been made out of chainmail rings, but in reality it's been
knitted with a special kind of yarn. This means they are much lighter than
actual chainmail bags, and you can just pop them in the laundry when they get
dirty :)
It has a clip attached to the back which can easily be removed and closes with
black wax cotton cord with dark brown beads.
12 x 12 cm/4.7 x 4.5 inches is the size of the bag.
It's being sold for € 10, shipping not included.

I knitted a steampunk type scarf
out of fuzzy yarn I got at the yarn stand at the local Sunday market ages ago :)
It's going to keep me warm for sure ^^

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, September 29 2009
I knitted myself a hat. There's keys dangling from the cords. If I undo those cords I can wear it as a cowl. This multifunctionality makes me happy :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, September 21 2009
This is the Peter Pan inspired hat I knitted for my friend Jon for Halloween :)

Happy Talk Like an Air Pirate Day everyone!!!!
May your day be filled with treasure and piratical fun!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday, September 17 2009
I made this costume for my cat Merlijn, who is going to be a skeleton this Halloween. He absolutely adores it, putting it on is no efford at all, taking it back off however, ow man X_x There's a lot of sad meowing and pathetic looks involved when I take it off again, he loves it so much (my cat is a bit odd, he loves clothes).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, September 13 2009
I made this top for my friend Anke for this Saturday's International Talk Like a Pirate Day :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday, September 11 2009
I wrote up the knitting pattern for the slouchy pumpkin hat I made a while ago. You can download it for free and make your own.
Do take note that this pattern is available for PERSONAL USE ONLY! You can't make any money off it or pass it off as your own!
And apart from that I made some trick or treat bags for this Halloween, out of scraps left over from Halloween costumes I was making. Better make bags out of them than throw out the scraps, this is a far more productive, and fun way to use them :)

These two were made for my friends Manu and Rik, out of left over fabric from my Halloween costume.

And these two were made for my friend Anke out of left over fabric of her Halloween skirt.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday, September 10 2009
This scarf was double knitted with 100% cotton yarn. It's in candy corn colours, but with black for those that prefer a scarf a little darker than the normal brightness of the Halloween candy. It's for sale here on my etsy page :)

A big thank you to my friend Anke for modeling the scarf! (I made the horns she's wearing as well, she just needs to paint them now ^__^)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday, September 9 2009
These are the spats I made for this year's Halloween costume. The print is just the best, then again I love pumpkins so I'm biased :)
Check the spats page for more photos!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday, September 4 2009
I made this screenprinted longsleeve for my friend Anke as part of her Halloween costume. Picture of the full costume (we worked on it together) will follow soon I'm sure :)
If you want your own Halloween top, t-shirt or longsleeve, have a look at the Halloween Screenprints page :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wednesday, September 2 2009
This was actually the first hat I ever knitted :)
I put some leaves on the string to give a pumpkin plant leaf effect (they originally were silver but I put a coat of green acrylic ink over them).

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, September 1 2009
I knitted this scarf for my friend Jon in candy corn colours. Because he LOVES candy corn. It's seriously super long, which is cool because it won't let through any cold :D
My story is that it's a candy corn scarf Dr Who style when Tom Baker played him and I'm sticking to that story :)

I had an outfit shot done, not the greatest shot I know, but the weather here in Belgium is being absolutely dire. It was really warm, then it rained but didn't cool down so it's this nasty sticky humidity here now. I fled back inside where it's cool O_o
I hope everyone is having a fabulous time!!!!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, June 9 2009
I recently started knitting, and whilst I'm not capable of all kinds of spectacular things, I did figure out how to do some nice accessories and scarves. And become the owner of a ravelry account :)

Faux chainmail drawstring bags, I've knitted loads of them on commission lately.
I've also knitted some scarves. The brown one is mine, and the purple one was knitted for my friend Charlotte.

And yet more spats, for one can NEVER have enough/too many pairs of spats :) Like all the other pairs, this too has been added to the spats page (you'll have to scroll down a bit though). It's a special one of a kind pair with Mickey Mouse heads print. I promise I'll soon start posting something else than spats (although I've got at least one more pair coming up), with some luck I'll be able to get some more things photographed this Thursday (and no, those things will NOT be spats :P).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Founding Day (or should I say: 1st anniversary) Smoking Lounge!
I have baked cake with chocolate for this joyous occassion (and then Bert ate it, that'll teach me for baking it a day in advance!). There's pictures of the cake though, in honour of the Smoking Lounge, complete with special cake banner (that I made myself) and everything! :) It's a normal cake with bits of chocolate, simple, yet yum!

And this is the outfit I wore for the occassion.

I found something that is hours of amusement guaranteed on the Coraline website. In the Other Mother's Workshop you can make your photos look vintage with frame and all included! And you could add buttons for eyes, just like in the movie (I didn't do that though). So if you like that kind of thing, you know where to go :)
An example of what I made on there (there's more on my flickr page):

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Yule everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Pretend to be a Time Traveller Day!!!!!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY
THANKSGIVING! to everyone out in the US, or that celebrates this holiday :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, November 23 2008
I have been working on new things lately, but sadly because of the bad weather there have not been any photo opportunities yet. Hopefully we'll manage inside location shots soon.
Bérengère was kind enough to take pictures of me wearing one of my Halloween print shirts at yesterday's Lost game, so I've uploaded that to my shirts and my Halloween shirts pages. Thanks again Bérengère!!!

Speaking of Lost, I have moved the website of the Camarilla Belgium Lost game to this site, because I run the game and need to be able to easily update it. So if anyone is interested in the kind of LARPs I'm involved, check out the Camarilla page, or better yet: the Lost page! :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Halloween and
!

I was in Disneyland Paris with my friend Charlotte for this auspicious occasion without my laptop and internet so I couldn't put this up earlier. Sorry about that.
These are some bad pictures of my costumes that I had made beforehand (in bad lighting outside sadly). Alas you can't see the shirts well, but hey, you get the jest. Too bad the weather was so horrid (lots of rain and freezing cold) in Disneyland Paris so I sadly didn't manage to get better pictures taken in the park.

For better pictures of the shirt in the pic on the left, click here. I'll have to get pictures made of the shirt in the picture of the right, because the print is really very funky :)

And in other fantastic news: Gatehouse Gazette # 3 is now out! It's no doubt the best steampunk and dieselpunk magazine online, and you should all read it (it's free by the way)! This edition we have articles on LARP, history, fashion, music, reviews, comics and much much more!!!!!!
If you missed the other editions, fear not, you can download them all on this link :)

I got featured on The Gatehouse, a most excellent steampunk and dieselpunk website ran by Nick Ottens (the chief editor of Gatehouse Gazette).
Huzzah :)

Today I went to the F.A.C.T.S. 2008 convention in Ghent, dressed as a steampunk aviator. This is a picture of the costume I wore. I made the shirt and skirt myself.

Friday, October 3 2008
I went to the seaside (Ostend to be precise) last Saturday to have pictures taken for the next edition of the Gatehouse Gazette and my portfolio. Results can be seen in my bellskirt page and the waistcoat page. I have but one more thing to say: airship pirates for the win!
For those following the LARP links on my website, the Black Arc coterie mini-site has also been updated with some pictures.

Let the count-down to Hallowe'en begin!

Because Hallowe'en is drawing closer, today's update is the Hallowe'en longsleeve made for Sille, the daughter of my friend Chris. You can find it on the Hallowe'en tops page. Don't forget to check out my Halloween section if you're still looking for that perfect spooky holiday garment or accessory!

Yesterday was Sven and Nikki's wedding (again, congratulations you guys!) and I wore my fabulous new evening dress that I made myself. Sadly the only pictures of it that Bert took came out super blurry. So until I get better pictures within a fortnight, I'll leave you with this. You get the general idea from it at least :) (and no I am NOT going to make it a habit of posting blurry pics :P)

Hallowe'en is creeping up on us again (huzzah!) and thus I have uploaded a (temporary, it will return annually end of August/beginning of September) special Halloween section to this website where you can find all your Spooky Holiday needs be they costumes, clothing or accessories!

Last day of the summer holidays, alas, so tomorrow it's back to evening college with me!
That said, today I've updated my special offers page with loads of new things for direct sale. So have a look, you never know whether you'll find something you love!
As an added bonus I'm selling two one-off items, which means that the person buying them will be the _only_ one with this particular garment!
Once they're gone, they're gone.

In other news, I've recently had promo postcards and business cards printed by a London (UK) based company called Moo and I would like to take the time to heartily recommend them to any artist or person that wants to make their own postcards, notecards, greeting cards, business cards, sticker books and other funky things; for they are really rather fabulous! So if you need someone to do your (promotional) printing, check out Moo!
(By the by, there's nothing wrong with the colours of the bottom 3 business cards, the colours of those are just as nice as those of the others, the flash just caught them badly.)

Huzzah, the second edition of the Gatehouse Gazette has been released! I've written two articles and a haiku for it, and provided several photos. Everyone should read it for it is absolutely brilliant!!!!

Yesterday, Tom and I went into Louvain to sort out pictures for the Gatehouse Gazette (which we both work for). And I decided to use some for my portfolio as well :)

Copyright 2008 Tom Vanherck (photography)
and Hilde Heyvaert (design).

No unauthorized use or distribution.

The first two I also used for my steampunk and general zipper skirt pages, because I love them so much. Pictures of me by Tom, picture of Tom by me. (Tom's outfit is store bought btw, I had nothing to do with that! The first picture was taken in the university halls, and the other 3 at a wonderful store called Louvanist (which you should all visit should the opportunity arise!)
Many thanks to the propietor of Louvanist to let us use their store to take photos in!!!!! Below are the details for Louvanist.
Grote Markt - Kortestraat 2

fax: 016 20 18 00
soon they will have a website too at www.louvanist.com

First things first: Happy Belgium day everyone!
Today is our national holiday you see, and despite of the lies spread in several newspapers, this country is NOT about to split up.
But I'm not here to rant/talk about politics.
Today I went out into Louvain with Tom, Els, Peter and Bert to sort out photos for my portfolio and website. Over the course of the coming days I will upload several on them here and my online portfolio.
Of course I'm starting updates of the website right now, and so I've made a new page in the costuming section, one for Regency waistcoats. My brand new steampunk section is also coming along nicely. I've added several pages on there already, make sure to check it out!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, June 20 2008
I have added a page to the Costuming section for the Changeling the Lost specific LARP garments I make. If you play the venue (or if you're curious what this is about): check it out :)
Tomorrow I'm doing a photoshoot in Louvain with Bert and Tom for various garments I've made, so expect a lot of updates soon.
I'm also working on several new sections on my site.

My friend Tam has send me some photos of her wedding, for which I made two waistcoats and the pageboy outfits. They can be found in my customer gallery :) Aren't the pageboys absolutely adorable?!

Saturday, April 5 2008
First and foremost: CONGRATULATIONS to Tam and Andy on their wedding! Which is today :)
I was commissioned by them to make waistcoats for the groom and his best man and the pageboys. And for the same wedding I was commissioned by Jeni to do dresses for her and her daughter Anwen, so stay tuned for photos of those showing up on this page and on other relevant pages of this website :)
Some pictures of Jeni wearing her dress (they're the one of the pretty lady in the long blue dress with flouncy sleeves) can already be seen in my customer gallery ^__^

The first piece for the new year (hey we're only the 14th day, the year is still brand new ^__^): the hooded frock coat. The one in the photos is a winter version, but it's of course also available in shorter versions, all sorts of fabrics, for all seasons and without a hood. Go and have a look on my frock coat page :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tuesday, December 25 2007

Coming soon! Photos of the new model frock coat: the hooded winter frock coat (only suitable for daily wear and fantasy pirate costumes, NOT for historical reenactment), and a new Edwardian waistcoat that I made for Bert. We're waiting on the weather to be cooperative enough for us to take pictures.

For more silly Christmas pictures, have a look here on my design blog :)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, December 24 2007

I know that this site hasn't been updated much lately, but I can assure you all that it's mainly to do with the lack of a good inside location for photos and the freezing (literally) cold weather outside. More new designs shall be posted soon when the weather (and mainly the temperature) is more cooperative, you can count on that :)
I'm also working hard on my collections, so more about that will be coming soon as well!
In the mean time, I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season, whichever holiday you celebrate!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Yule!!!!!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, November 5 2007
Lots of new things! First and for most I've added a new garment to my clothing section: a poufed sleeved shirt :)
I've also finally gotten 'round to uploading my Hallowe'en costumes for this year. First Bert and I went to Disneyland Paris early October, where in the Halloween season, adults are allowed to dress up too (and not just on after hours parties like in the US Disney parks).
The first day we were there I was the Cheshire Cat.
The second day I opted for a Hallowe'en pirate costume. Sadly I didn't manage to finish it all, so you'll just have to see this as a sort of sneak preview for my costume for next year :)

And last but definitely not least: my Hallowe'en costume for this year. I was a ghost girl :)

Merlijn wanted to be in the photo too :)

He didn't burst the balloon, he just tapped at it with his paw, without drawing claws at it :)

In totally non-design news: I've (temporarily) uploaded the
Camarilla Belgium National 2007 registratration
form on my website. This is of course, only of interest to Camarilla players
:)
But it had to be hosted somewhere, so it might as well be here ^^
EDIT (Monday, December 24 2007): seeing the national is now long gone, the registration form has been taken off again :)

I, like many others, play a character in the world wide Camarilla Requiem LARP.
It's an entire supernatural world with many things you can play. A great many of
these "factions" have their own logos and symbols. Recently I've started desiging
imagery for these factions, and the results are now on their own
page in the costuming section :)
Next: Sworn of the Dying Light and Sworn of the Mysteries of the Ordo Dracul
covenant.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, July 2 2007
I've added a new page to my
costuming section, a pirate shirt page for both
historically accurate and fantasy pirate shirts for both men and women.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, July 1 2007
My friend Jeni send me some brilliant pictures she took of her daughter Anwen
wearing the pirate outfit I made her. So I've added those to the
women & girls frock coat page and the
bellskirt page.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sunday, June 25 2007
I've updated the
BJD section with a funky sleeveless top, a bellskirt with tartan/plaid
ribbon detail and a miniature tricorn hat.
